The Cartoon Guide to Statistics (Larry Gonick and Woollcott Smith)
I don't hesitate to recommend any of Larry Gonick's "Cartoon Guide To ..." books.
I've used selections from this book in my critical thinking course packages, when I'm introducing rules for reasoning with probabilities. The images are really helpful.
It covers many of the basic topics in a first statistics course. Almost no one uses this as a primary text in a stats class, but many instructors recommend it as a supplementary text, and I certainly recommend it as well.
